All Sloan O’Malley ever wanted was a simple life—and now she’s finally got it. She’s left everything behind in Boston—her family, her money, even her name—and set herself up in a tiny seaside town in Oregon. What she doesn’t plan for? Her mysterious and painfully attractive neighbor, Jude.

Jude MacNamara has been many things in his life—pampered son of a prestigious family, only surviving heir to a lost legacy, hit man—but now he’s out for revenge on the man responsible for the death of his father and brothers—Colm Sheridan. He’s tracking Colm’s sister when he encounters Sloan living with her in her beach house. He’s a patient hunter and he’s willing to sit back and wait for his prey…he just doesn’t expect for this woman to give rise to emotions he hasn’t felt in years.

REVIEW:

I received a copy of this book from Forever Romance in exchange for an honest review.

I just want to start off this review by giving a fair warning that I did not know that this book was part of a series and while I believe you can read it standalone, it’ll be like me, where you’ll be slightly confused and be caught up in characters you didn’t know existed.

Furthermore, I want to give a warning that I read this book without the right mindset. I didn’t feel like a crime/thriller/suspense romance novel so it was really hard for me to push through and finish this book.

REVIEW:

The reason why I’m giving this book a 2/5 stars is because well, instead of a 208 page book, it can be an 88 page book and I would have given it an extra star for being somewhat decent.

However, since it dragged out longer than I was hoping for, this book was just a big meh and sometimes a big NO.

We have Cora, an eighteen year girl, that lives with her somewhat abusive stepfather who is beginning to see how much she has matured and grown from a teenage girl to a woman. It’s already getting to the part where it’s a NO for me because I really don’t like creepy relationships where the father figure is really sexual towards their loved ones that they’re supposed to take care of. Moving on, Cora experiences sexual harassment from her stepfather’s friends which is also a NO because it was just so creepy!

Anyways, Cora isn’t anything special. She’s a virgin and plain Jane. Loves reading books, being shy, and crying when she’s upset which is OKAY but it can be kind of boring sometimes.

FLASH BOOK REVIEW: Valentine for Hire by Aria Cole

33975727

Title: Valentine for Hire
Author: Aria Cole
Publication: February 3rd 2017
Pages: 61
Synopsis:

For Bryn Stafford, the prospect of going home for her sister’s extravagant Valentine’s Day wedding, hopelessly single…again, sounds like hell on earth. She’s always dreaded introducing anyone to the hot mess that is her over-the-top, obnoxiously wealthy and well-bred family, but desperate times call for desperate measures. After seeing an ad for the city’s premier escort service, Elite Fling, Bryn finds herself making an appointment to hire one very handsome, very expensive, fake date for the big day.

When the woman of Brodie Merrick’s dreams walks into Elite Fling, his brother’s slightly immoral but incredibly successful “dating” service, Brodie has two thoughts a) what the hell is a girl like her doing in a place like this and b) what would those sparkly red stilettos feel like wrapped around his neck? He begs his brother to give him the job, even though he’s just the computer guy and most definitely not an escort, but because Brodie is lucky he soon finds himself with one very sexy fake Valentine.

When they meet on the day of the wedding, Bryn assumes he’s the escort she’s hired to be her date, but Brodie has other plans, plans that involve him and her and a very long and lucky orgasmic future together. Can he win his feisty fake Valentine’s heart or will their chemistry fade faster than the syrupy sweet sugar high?

Warning: Forget candy hearts and frilly flowers, Brodie is a man’s man—he sees what he wants, he takes what he needs, he lays claim to what’s his. He’s all alpha, all the time, and determined to give Bryn blissful orgasms, beautiful babies, and the last name Merrick. Hold onto your panties, Valentine For Hire is a saucy romp with a sexy, alpha stranger on Valentine’s Day!

REVIEW:

This is a new segment on my blog called “Flash Reviews.” I will be providing short reviews to short books, giving my thoughts on characters and plot.

THIS BOOK WAS JUST DIFFERENT. Like I never read many books where it’s escort service for girls where they find a guy they can “date” to impress their relatives and in our heroine’s case, make her relatives forget that she’s single at her sister’s wedding.

I HAVE A THING FOR NERDY GUYS. NOT LIKE OUR HERO WAS JUST A NERD BEHIND THICK LENSES AND WHO’S REALLY GOOD AT COMPUTERS AND IS SOCIALLY AWKWARD BUT well, he does deal with computers a lot…

Title: Under Pressure
Author: Aria Cole
Publication: March 24th 2017
Pages: 80
Synopsis:

Jean-Luc Martel knows good taste. As the award-winning celebrity chef of éloïse, he’s amassed a high-end clientele and hordes of dedicated foodie fans. But while he’s a master in the kitchen, his reputation for being a nightmare to work with precedes him. Known for his rapid-fire temper, chiseled good looks, and a dash of tattooed, bad boy edge, Jean-Luc doesn’t take shit from anyone. Until he meets Delaney Thomas. She’s talented, sassy, entirely too sexy for her own good, and the niece of his best friend and sous chef.

Every bone in his body is telling him to take what’s his, but outside forces soon conspire to pull them apart, and Jean-Luc finds himself more torn and tortured than he’s ever been. As his bad boy reputation threatens to rattle the very foundations of the forever he’s trying to build with Delaney, they’ll both be forced to decide if love really can exist under the most intense pressure.

Warning: Jean-Luc is a sex-on-a-stick, walking, talking, blue-blooded alpha male. The only thing that melts this man’s frozen heart is the woman of his dreams, and something tells him nothing would taste sweeter than Delaney on his tongue. If you can’t handle the heat, stay out of Jean-Luc’s kitchen!

I’m going to be really honest with this review because I just binge read two stories from Aria Cole and she really satisfied my cravings with those stories but this one…

Well, this one fell a little bit short. It just didn’t have the same crazy sexual attraction between our two characters and the way it was set up and written felt off from the books I’ve read by Aria that made me give it the 4+ star rating.

Three things sum up Valentine Marsden at this moment: she’s got a sweet tooth so deep she opened her own bakery; she hates the holiday that is her namesake; and she just might be charged with murder tomorrow morning when she strangles the contractor next door banging on the walls during the busiest week of the year. OKAY SO BASICALLY. I AM SO HAPPY TO READ THIS ONE BECAUSE I AM A SUCKER FOR FIREFIGHTERS. LIKE. IF THERE WAS A KINK FOR FIREFIGHTERS, I PROBABLY HAVE THAT KINK.

Anyways, let’s move to the review. Aria Cole is one of my favourite writers on Amazon who write short stories under 100 pages that are filled with romance, hot sex, and male characters that are dominating and strong. So what I really expected was simple.

Book Review: After the Rain by Renee Carlino

After the Rain

Title: After the Rain

MY RATING: 1/5 STARS

REVIEW:

I’m being very, very, very generous when I’m giving this book a 1/5 stars because let’s just start off that it started off well…enough. It’s written in both perspectives of Avelina and Nate which was promising to me because I like dual perspective stories.

However, there was just so many things wrong with this book.

Let’s begin with how Avelina’s story was written in a summary format. For the first couple of chapters, the author was summarizing her life instead of telling me her story. It made the story so boring and I felt so bad for her character because it had so much potential to leave an impact. Instead, it was just pointless for me to read.

I’m also going to talk about how Avelina basically had such a wild background I was shocked that it happened by chapter 3 or somewhere in the near beginning. She fell in love with her husband, Jake, and marries him very early on in the relationship and then tragedy strikes. A horse falls on top of Jake. You read it right. A horse falls on top of Jake as he’s trying to save Avelina from being trampled on. Fine. Let’s just say we believe it and then we move on. I expect death at this point because the way the author is describing how a thousand pound animal just falls on top of you, it’s reasonable. HOWEVER, NO. THIS WOULDN’T BE THE 1/5 STAR STORY UNLESS…

REVIEW:

An Advanced Reader Copy was provided to me by Forever Romance in exchange for an honest review.

Hello, welcome back to another small town story novel about two opposites that find their lives crossing paths and ultimately falling in love. Let’s begin by first introducing our hunk, Ben Westmore.

Ben’s a big shot hockey player that is about to lead his team into the Stanley Cup finals. He doesn’t need distractions (I know, we’ve read it before but i love this concept) and especially doesn’t need his lawyers telling him that the little drunken mistake has led him to an actual WIFE. Yup, Ben got drunk and now his childhood friend, Kristina Sullivan, claims that she’s his wife and she intends for him to fulfill his role…

Or so we think.

I’m Back!

I know it’s been almost been an entire year of me not blogging and writing book reviews but I am back!

I haven’t stopped reading or anything. I’ve actually read more and more but writing proper reviews on here stopped and only short reviews have been made on my Goodreads.

With that being said, I’m back and I’m planning to write many reviews for books to come. Watch out for my newest review that might be coming soon!

Book Review: An Astronaut’s Guide to Life on Earth

18170143

Author: Chris Hadfield

Pages: 304

Synopsis: Colonel Chris Hadfield has spent decades training as an astronaut and has logged nearly 4000 hours in space. During this time he has broken into a Space Station with a Swiss army knife, disposed of a live snake while piloting a plane, and been temporarily blinded while clinging to the exterior of an orbiting spacecraft. The secret to Col. Hadfield’s success-and survival-is an unconventional philosophy he learned at NASA: prepare for the worst-and enjoy every moment of it.

In An Astronaut’s Guide to Life on Earth, Col. Hadfield takes readers deep into his years of training and space exploration to show how to make the impossible possible. Through eye-opening, entertaining stories filled with the adrenaline of launch, the mesmerizing wonder of spacewalks, and the measured, calm responses mandated by crises, he explains how conventional wisdom can get in the way of achievement-and happiness. His own extraordinary education in space has taught him some counterintuitive lessons: don’t visualize success, do care what others think, and always sweat the small stuff.

You might never be able to build a robot, pilot a spacecraft, make a music video or perform basic surgery in zero gravity like Col. Hadfield. But his vivid and refreshing insights will teach you how to think like an astronaut, and will change, completely, the way you view life on Earth-especially your own.
