Title: Sweet Valentine
Author: Aria Cole
Publication: February 10th 2017
Pages: 77
Synopsis:

Three things sum up Valentine Marsden at this moment: she’s got a sweet tooth so deep she opened her own bakery; she hates the holiday that is her namesake; and she just might be charged with murder tomorrow morning when she strangles the contractor next door banging on the walls during the busiest week of the year. Valentine finds herself bumping into the completely sexy and totally cocky stranger more and more often. So often she’s beginning to think he’s a working man with a serious sweet tooth…

Ford Knox has spent almost twenty years secluding himself from the public, retreating to his mountain cabin after work everyday without a second thought for complicated things like women and relationships. But when the syrupy sweet and dangerously curvy bakery owner next door seems to fall right into his lap this Valentine’s Day, he winds up drunk on her and desperate for more. Knox is a real man with a wicked appetite, and Valentine is the only thing he can see.

Warning: Sweet Valentine is cocky, blue-collar alpha goodness with a dash of sweet candy hearts, lush chocolate-dipped strawberries, and sawdust-scented first kisses. Grab a chocolate martini because Knox and Valentine are about to melt your insides!

Title: Under Fire

Synopsis:

Blaise Michaels has never met a fire he couldn’t tame–or a woman who could cause a five-alarm blaze in his heart. But the night he meets Brianna Foster is a night that will leave permanent marks on them both.

Brianna Foster wasn’t looking for love–in fact, all she was looking for was her grumpy old cat before the building dissolved into ash around them. But when tall, dark, and heroic bursts through her apartment door to save her–and her kitty–from the flames, she never dreams he would light a fire that could incinerate her soul.

Warning: Blaise is a big, growly, alpha male with a hero complex. Saving Brianna isn’t enough for him. He wants more than just in her bed. He wants her tied to him for life.

This is a new segment on my blog called “Flash Reviews.” I will be providing short reviews to short books, giving my thoughts on characters and plot.

OKAY SO BASICALLY. I AM SO HAPPY TO READ THIS ONE BECAUSE I AM A SUCKER FOR FIREFIGHTERS. LIKE. IF THERE WAS A KINK FOR FIREFIGHTERS, I PROBABLY HAVE THAT KINK.

Anyways, let’s move to the review. Aria Cole is one of my favourite writers on Amazon who write short stories under 100 pages that are filled with romance, hot sex, and male characters that are dominating and strong. So what I really expected was simple.

REVIEW:

I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book by Forever Romance in exchange for an honest review.

I have to be really honest with myself when I requested this book from Forever Romance. I actually felt indifferent by the story line and I felt indifferent by the cover of the novel. I know. I know. I shouldn’t judge a book by its cover but really I feel like I can sense out the type of style a book is going based on the cover. With that being said, let’s jump into the review and you can understand why I’m giving this book a 2/5 stars.

To begin, we have our main “hockey god”, Jude Braddock who is the definition of a playboy. Here’s this thing that I have with playboys. Yes, I get they have a lot of sex with many different girls. It’s basically the definition and I’m cool with it to a certain extent in a book but oh my god. Victoria Denault really emphasizes that Jude fucks a lot of girls. And it’s just frustrating because we can’t get over it with a chapter of describing his sexual history but it has to drag on for over 5 chapters. It’s also so annoying that all these girls remember where he lives and they keep showing up on his doorstep, begging him to have one more night of fun.

MY RATING: 1/5 STARS

REVIEW:

I’m being very, very, very generous when I’m giving this book a 1/5 stars because let’s just start off that it started off well…enough. It’s written in both perspectives of Avelina and Nate which was promising to me because I like dual perspective stories.

However, there was just so many things wrong with this book.

Let’s begin with how Avelina’s story was written in a summary format. For the first couple of chapters, the author was summarizing her life instead of telling me her story. It made the story so boring and I felt so bad for her character because it had so much potential to leave an impact. Instead, it was just pointless for me to read.

I’m also going to talk about how Avelina basically had such a wild background I was shocked that it happened by chapter 3 or somewhere in the near beginning. She fell in love with her husband, Jake, and marries him very early on in the relationship and then tragedy strikes. A horse falls on top of Jake. You read it right. A horse falls on top of Jake as he’s trying to save Avelina from being trampled on. Fine. Let’s just say we believe it and then we move on. I expect death at this point because the way the author is describing how a thousand pound animal just falls on top of you, it’s reasonable. HOWEVER, NO. THIS WOULDN’T BE THE 1/5 STAR STORY UNLESS…

An Advanced Reader Copy was provided to me by Forever Romance in exchange for an honest review.

Hello, welcome back to another small town story novel about two opposites that find their lives crossing paths and ultimately falling in love. Let’s begin by first introducing our hunk, Ben Westmore.

Ben’s a big shot hockey player that is about to lead his team into the Stanley Cup finals. He doesn’t need distractions (I know, we’ve read it before but i love this concept) and especially doesn’t need his lawyers telling him that the little drunken mistake has led him to an actual WIFE. Yup, Ben got drunk and now his childhood friend, Kristina Sullivan, claims that she’s his wife and she intends for him to fulfill his role…

Or so we think.

Synopsis: What they say is true…never get involved with someone you work with.

David Edelman was an arrogant prick. At least that’s what Claire Stevens thought. She didn’t have many enemies but if she were forced to make a list, he would certainly be at the top of it. So, when she walked into her new job and saw him standing there, she’d been two seconds away from turning tail and running. But she needed the job and she never backed away from a challenge.

Claire Stevens was a stuck-up brat. He couldn’t believe that out of all the people in the city, she was the one hired to be his new assistant. The woman who drove him crazy. It was campaign season and this election was the one he and Clay had been working toward. He couldn’t allow his frustrating and maddeningly gorgeous assistant to distract him.

But then one night, that all changed.

It was just supposed to be a no-strings-attached, never-to-be-repeated-again kind of night. They weren’t supposed to actually feel anything. They weren’t supposed to remember how each other felt. And they sure as hell weren’t supposed to want to do it again.

But they did.

And they denied it, they fought it. But after a while, it wasn’t enough. They knew they were going to have to face up to their feelings. They were going to have to stop fighting and give in. Which wasn’t going to be easy. For Stubborn Hearts, it never was.
