Title: A Very Cowboy Christmas
Author: Kim Redford
Publication: October 31st 2017
Pages: 384
Synopsis:

There’s nothing like a firefighting cowboy to keep you toasty warm this Christmas…

Christmas is coming up, and single mom Sydney Steele is determined to make this a holiday to remember for Wildcat Bluff County. She still has to get those pesky, reluctant―and deliciously attractive―firefighting cowboys to pose for her charity calendar. They claim they’re too busy pursuing an unknown arsonist to take a break.

Dune Barrett has been flirting with Sydney for months, so he jumps at the chance to give her a hand. And when he agrees to pose as Mr. December, she couldn’t be happier. But to really win her over, Dune will have to convince eleven other guys from his crew to exploit their good looks for charity…a task much easier said than done.

I was provided a complimentary copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

A Very Cowboy Christmas tells the story of how a single man manages to convince a very smokin’ hot cowboy to model for a calendar she is making to raise money for a fundraiser she’s taken part of. The premise of the book does sound pretty interesting. I mean, Mr. December? A firefighter calendar? What else more can we ask for?

I received an ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

I actually received this book way back in end of August but I saved it till now to read because sue me. I like to read christmas stories at christmas time.

Okay, so I love Jennifer Snow. Ever since Maybe This Love (the second book in the Colorado Ice series), I’ve fallen for her stories about NHL hockey players and the girls that just know how to tame them.

Maybe this Christmas was no exception. We have Asher Westmore, a big shot hockey player who is 1 small game away from playing his 1000th game, and Emma Callaway, a former olympic athlete turned physical therapist. Both who enjoy the tentative friends-with-benefits relationship that have been indulging in for the past year or so but obviously, reader. One of them clearly wants more. And reader, it’s Emma.

I’m Deaf. What most people view as a disadvantage, I see as an advantage.
I feel my way through life in my 1969 Ford Fairlane. The vibrations and speed sustain me, the race track is where I dominate.
I thought racing was all I needed to survive…but I was wrong.

*Presley*
Music is my life. I inhale the melody and breathe in the lyrics.
That was until I met someone that opened my eyes to a new culture. Who knew all it would take was silence for me to really experience music.

When Silence and sound collide it creates an explosion of the senses.

I was given an ARC by the author in exchange for an honest review.

I was approached by Jaci Wheeler, herself, to review one of her latest releases coming out early 2018 and I was actually pretty stoked to read it. The synopsis of Silent Song seemed just like what I was always in the mood for. A romance filled with more complicated issues and discussing topics most books do not cover.

Such as people who are deaf.

BOOK REVIEW: Heartless by Michelle Horst

Title: Heartless
Author: Michelle Horst
Publication: August 30th 2017
Pages: 219
Synopsis:

I’m warned that Carter Hayes is heartless.

He’s part of the screw crew.
He’ll just use you and leave you.
He’s ruthless and always gets what he wants.

Just look for the trail of broken hearts and dreamy sighs and you’ll find him.

“Hot as sin, Carter.”

I don’t have time to fall head over heels for any guy. Besides, he’d never notice someone like me. I have a three step plan. Get through college. Get a job. Get my sister out of the hell hole I left her in. That’s all I have time for.

That’s until I hear of the betting pool the guys started. Whoever screws me first gets the money. The moment Carter looks at me, I know it’s only because of the bet.

I tell myself our first kiss is only for show.
I hate my heart for falling for his irresistible charm.

For one foolish moment, I actually want him to be my first earth-shattering love. All it takes for me to give in is a little attention, a cocky smile, and a fake promise of a happily-ever-after.

When I’m surrounded by crumpled sheets and the smell of sex, I realize I let him have me for four hundred dollars.

To save what little pride I have left, I pretend it didn’t mean anything, that he’s just one last screw before we all leave college.

I’ve spent the last four years lying to myself. When I’m ready to take the final step of my plan, and save my sister, guess who walks through my front door?

This is a full-length, stand alone, unrequited love/second chance romance.
Note: The book ends at 77% with samples of Predator and Protector.

Okay, honestly, Heartless was a very borderline book for me. Authors who follow the troupe of enemies to lovers seem to be mistaken nowadays about what it means to be a lovable enemy to a hateful and rude enemy. I was literally seething while I read this book a lot of the times because of how some characters behaved and I’ll get into it more later but be AWARE. THIS IS YOUR WARNING.

I really wanted to like this book. I requested it on Netgalley thinking it’ll be my next favourite read because look at the cover, the synopsis, and the everything. It’s exactly what I read and what I go for but for some reason, Her Fake Engagement by Gigi Garrett did not captivate my attention enough to keep reading.

Author: Tawna Fenske
Publication: December 14th 2015
Pages: 210
Synopsis:

Uncovering this sexy geek’s charm is easy. Keeping her hands off of him is impossible.

While he may look like the love child of a movie starlet and an NFL linebacker, Ben Langley has the people skills of a half-drowned porcupine. Why socialize when there are chemistry labs and bad sci-fi flicks? If he has any hope of taking the helm as CEO of the family business, Ben needs an image makeover. Pronto.

Enter Holly Colvin, owner of First Impressions public relations and branding firm, and the woman who just saved Ben from the clutches of an over-attentive sales clerk. Holly’s rebranded hundreds of companies in her career, but she’s never rebranded a person. The guy clearly needs help, though, and she’s just the woman for the job.

With the clock ticking for them both, Holly and Ben face off over wardrobe malfunctions and business jargon that sounds a lot sexier than it should. But can Holly make Ben into the man he thinks he should be without losing the man she’s starting to love?

MY RATING: 4.5 / 5

This is my first book that I have ever read from Tawna Fenske and it will certainly not be my last. I just need some time and I will finish the rest of her ‘First Impression’ series just you wait!

Let’s start with the fact that I love nerds. After reading, The Wrong Kind of Compatible by Kadie Scott, I knew I was reading a good book when I realized Ben was just a dork. He loves star wars, trashy sci-fi movies, and stays way too long by himself in a lab than outside in the real world. But don’t get me wrong ladies, Ben is attractive. He’s really tall for a start. I know. He has beautiful eyes. He’s kind. He’s funny. He’s a major fluff ball that you just want as your boyfriend and then your husband. I was eating out of his hand from chapter two.

Title: Valentine for Hire
Author: Aria Cole
Publication: February 3rd 2017
Pages: 61
Synopsis:

For Bryn Stafford, the prospect of going home for her sister’s extravagant Valentine’s Day wedding, hopelessly single…again, sounds like hell on earth. She’s always dreaded introducing anyone to the hot mess that is her over-the-top, obnoxiously wealthy and well-bred family, but desperate times call for desperate measures. After seeing an ad for the city’s premier escort service, Elite Fling, Bryn finds herself making an appointment to hire one very handsome, very expensive, fake date for the big day.

When the woman of Brodie Merrick’s dreams walks into Elite Fling, his brother’s slightly immoral but incredibly successful “dating” service, Brodie has two thoughts a) what the hell is a girl like her doing in a place like this and b) what would those sparkly red stilettos feel like wrapped around his neck? He begs his brother to give him the job, even though he’s just the computer guy and most definitely not an escort, but because Brodie is lucky he soon finds himself with one very sexy fake Valentine.

When they meet on the day of the wedding, Bryn assumes he’s the escort she’s hired to be her date, but Brodie has other plans, plans that involve him and her and a very long and lucky orgasmic future together. Can he win his feisty fake Valentine’s heart or will their chemistry fade faster than the syrupy sweet sugar high?

Warning: Forget candy hearts and frilly flowers, Brodie is a man’s man—he sees what he wants, he takes what he needs, he lays claim to what’s his. He’s all alpha, all the time, and determined to give Bryn blissful orgasms, beautiful babies, and the last name Merrick. Hold onto your panties, Valentine For Hire is a saucy romp with a sexy, alpha stranger on Valentine’s Day!

REVIEW:

This is a new segment on my blog called “Flash Reviews.” I will be providing short reviews to short books, giving my thoughts on characters and plot.

THIS BOOK WAS JUST DIFFERENT. Like I never read many books where it’s escort service for girls where they find a guy they can “date” to impress their relatives and in our heroine’s case, make her relatives forget that she’s single at her sister’s wedding.

I HAVE A THING FOR NERDY GUYS. NOT LIKE OUR HERO WAS JUST A NERD BEHIND THICK LENSES AND WHO’S REALLY GOOD AT COMPUTERS AND IS SOCIALLY AWKWARD BUT well, he does deal with computers a lot…
