Publication: November 13th 2017
Pages: 197
Synopsis:

FBI agent Max Carter lives his life by a strict set of rules—rules that don’t allow for distraction, deviation…or a relationship. But tell that to his matchmaking mama. To avoid yet another set-up, he announces he has a girlfriend. And now has to produce said girlfriend at Christmas dinner. Maybe Santa has a suitable actress in that red bag of his…

Gina Castillo is about to break her building’s iron-clad “no pets” policy to give her little brother the perfect Christmas gift—a dog. Too bad Max, the most inconveniently sexy tenant in the building, catches her red handed. Gina expects to be evicted, but instead finds herself blackmailed into playing the role of his girlfriend.

I received an ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

This is my second book from Kadie Scott and after falling absolutely in love with ‘The Wrong Kind of Compatible’ which is the first book in the Love Undercover series, I was excited to hear about this new release!

And the hype definitely lived up to it. Ever since the first book, I fell in love with Max as a character. Who doesn’t love a best friend who is always there for you and there to tell you to get your act together and go for the girl?

BOOK REVIEW: Sweet Captivity by Julia Sykes

Traveling in London (3)

35918061

Title: Sweet Captivity
Author: Julia Sykes
Publication: September 12th 2017
Pages: 368
Synopsis:

I don’t like to be touched. I’m the hacker-geek-goddess of the FBI. When I’m hiding behind my screen, I’m a safe distance from everyone; isolated, powerful. No man has ever touched me, but when I’m captured by Colombian drug lord Andrés Moreno, I no longer have the right to refuse. He’s scarred and scary, and his cruel brother Cristian has tasked him with breaking me. I try to fight, but I can’t escape his strong arms and harsh discipline. He demands that I accept his touch, and my virgin body can’t help but respond to his masterful manipulations.

The longer I remain trapped with him, the more I come to suspect that I’m not the only captive in his brother’s home. Andrés’ scars go deeper than the wicked furrows carved into his flesh, his pain reflected in the dark demands he imposes upon me. His obsession is twisted and wrong, but maybe I’m twisted, too.

Do I want to be rescued from him? Or is he the one who truly needs saving?

MY RATING: 3/5 STARS

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Let’s be honest. After reading the synopsis, you kind of already know what to expect from Sweet Captivity by Julia Sykes. You’re going to probably get a story that features a heroine who may experience Stockholm syndrome and because this is a romance, you’ll probably expect an implausible ending that will make you feel unsettled.

BOOK REVIEW: In Too Deep by Jordan Marie

Traveling in London (3)

35695456

Title: In too Deep
Author: Jordan Marie
Publication: October 17th 2017
Pages: 268
Synopsis:

A brand new comedy series from USA Today Best Selling Author Jordan Marie
Available for the pre-order price of 2.99. Price will raise to 3.99 upon release day.

I did a bad thing.

I did a really bad thing.
I’m not a bad person, I swear. I just made a few mistakes.

Mistake number one was agreeing to rent my hotel out to an insufferable a**hole, named Aden Smith.
Mistake number two was ignoring his threats to sue me when he handed over a list of items he deemed “unacceptable”.
Mistake number three was diving into the pool to save his life when he fell. It would have been less complicated to hide his body.

When the hospital refuses to let me know how he is, without permission from his immediate family, I panic.

Claiming to be his wife might be my biggest mistake yet—especially when he believes me!

He might have been the one drowning, but I’m sinking in a bed of lies and going down fast—and there’s not a rescue in sight.

Complete Standalone FULL LENGTH NOVEL Pages listed will not be representative of the final product. Happy Ending, Laugh Out Loud Comedy and an Alpha Hero with his eyes only on one woman all contained inside.

MY RATING: 4/5 STARS

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

In Too Deep follows the troupe of enemies to lovers romance so if you’re not down for a hero who is a major a** to the heroine then this book isn’t for you. Seriously, I don’t know what has gotten into authors nowadays but they’re making the heroes really hard to accept, like, and ultimately forgive for the behaviour they pull in the story. It’s revolting at times so that’s why there’s a big star knocked off in this book.

I’m adding more stars because this is been the first book in a long time where it actually made me laugh. And it’s not laugh out loud all the time so don’t come back to me with pitchforks when you’re not laughing from page one. It’s just a chapter in this story that made me laugh. A lot. And I applaud Jordan Marie for it.

I was contacted this morning by Robyn Neeley herself, asking if I wanted to review her holiday office romance and I was so touched. But it was funny because I actually requested this book myself and her email was just a little nudge, reminding me that I have yet opened the epub in my email to read. So thanks Robyn for reminding me because if you didn’t, I would have forgotten and missed out this really adorable read!

BOOK REVIEW: Heartless by Michelle Horst

Book Review!

35606912

Title: Heartless
Author: Michelle Horst
Publication: August 30th 2017
Pages: 219
Synopsis:

I’m warned that Carter Hayes is heartless.

He’s part of the screw crew.
He’ll just use you and leave you.
He’s ruthless and always gets what he wants.

Just look for the trail of broken hearts and dreamy sighs and you’ll find him.

“Hot as sin, Carter.”

I don’t have time to fall head over heels for any guy. Besides, he’d never notice someone like me. I have a three step plan. Get through college. Get a job. Get my sister out of the hell hole I left her in. That’s all I have time for.

That’s until I hear of the betting pool the guys started. Whoever screws me first gets the money. The moment Carter looks at me, I know it’s only because of the bet.

I tell myself our first kiss is only for show.
I hate my heart for falling for his irresistible charm.

For one foolish moment, I actually want him to be my first earth-shattering love. All it takes for me to give in is a little attention, a cocky smile, and a fake promise of a happily-ever-after.

When I’m surrounded by crumpled sheets and the smell of sex, I realize I let him have me for four hundred dollars.

To save what little pride I have left, I pretend it didn’t mean anything, that he’s just one last screw before we all leave college.

I’ve spent the last four years lying to myself. When I’m ready to take the final step of my plan, and save my sister, guess who walks through my front door?

This is a full-length, stand alone, unrequited love/second chance romance.
Note: The book ends at 77% with samples of Predator and Protector.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Okay, honestly, Heartless was a very borderline book for me. Authors who follow the troupe of enemies to lovers seem to be mistaken nowadays about what it means to be a lovable enemy to a hateful and rude enemy. I was literally seething while I read this book a lot of the times because of how some characters behaved and I’ll get into it more later but be AWARE. THIS IS YOUR WARNING.

Author: Stefanie London
Publication: November 13th 2017

McKenna Prescott is the queen of picking the wrong men. Even worse, his would-be father-in-law has pulled support from Beckett’s startup and now Beckett stands to lose everything. MY RATING: 4/5

I received an ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

According to my Goodreads, this is only my second book from Stefanie London and this is a shock to me simply because I know I’ve seen her name around and thought I must have read a lot from her but I guess I was just delusional. Ha! But I will say that Trouble Next Door, Stefanie’s latest release, was an enjoyable and comedic read.

If you’re looking for a romantic comedy, Trouble Next Door is definitely the book for you. I can’t stress the amount of smart and witty humor that was included in this book. There were so many moments between our hero and heroine, Beckett and Mckenna, that my mouth would twitch and I would smirk. These characters definitely worked well with each other and had the chemistry romance readers look for.

From This Moment, an all-new sexy and emotional standalone from USA Today Bestselling author Melanie Harlow is available NOW!

MHFromThisMomentBookCover5x8_BW_300.jpg

From This Moment by Melanie Harlow

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Publishing Date: October 10th, 2017

It was like seeing a ghost.

When my late husband’s twin brother moves back to our small town, I want to avoid him. Everything about Wes reminds me of the man I lost and the life we’d planned together, and after eighteen long months struggling just to get out of bed, I’m finally doing okay. I have a new job, an amazing support group, and a beautiful five-year-old daughter to parent. I don’t want to go backward.

But I’m drawn to him, too. He understands my grief and anger and guilt like no one else—and I understand his. Before long, that understanding becomes desire, and that desire becomes uncontrollable.

He says he doesn’t care what people think, and love can never be wrong. But life has taught me its cruelest lesson–love doesn’t always win.

If only my heart would believe it.

BOOK REVIEW: After We Fall by Melanie Harlow

Book Review!

32790889

Title: After We Fall
Author: Melanie Harlow
Publication: November 28th 2016
Pages: 355
Synopsis:

Jack Valentini isn’t my type.

Sexy, brooding cowboys are fine in the movies, but in real life, I prefer a suit and tie. Proper manners. A close shave.

Jack might be gorgeous, but he’s also scruffy, rugged, and rude. He wants nothing to do with a “rich city girl” like me, and he isn’t afraid to say so.

But I’ve got a PR job to do for his family’s farm, so he’s stuck with me and I’m stuck with him. His glares. His moods. His tight jeans. His muscles.

His huge, hard muscles.

Pretty soon there’s a whole different kind of tension between us, the kind that has me misbehaving in barns, trees, and pickup trucks. I’ve never done anything so out of character—but it feels too good to stop.

And the more I learn about the grieving ex-Army sergeant, the better I understand him. Losing his wife left him broken and bitter and blaming himself. He doesn’t think he deserves a second chance at happiness.

But he’s wrong.

I don’t need to be his first love. If only he’d let me be his last.

ACTUAL RATING: 3.5/5

This was my third read from Melanie Harlow. I have yet to review the previous books I have read: If You Were Mine & From this Moment but I’ll get on it shortly. A quick summary of my reviews will be that I’m not really that impressed about the conflicts Melanie created for characters to not be possible to be together. And I’ll explain.

Okay, so since this was my third read, I must say that this was one of the more interesting ones simply because of Jack. I don’t know what to tell you except I guess I really like rude pricks like Jack and bubbly characters like Margot. I was digging it. I just had to keep reading to see how Jack and Margot interacted with each other. One, who was colder than ice. And the other one who was like what is your problem dude?

MY RATING: 4/5

I received an arc from Harper Collins in exchange for an honest review.

Let’s start this review off with me saying that I love Katie’s works. I adored How to Love, and yes, 99 days was kind of problematic, and I didn’t really read her other release from this year, Fireworks, yet but I still hold onto the fact that she will be one of my automatic buys. Have you seen the cover designs of her books? Granted, I shouldn’t be purchasing a book based on it’s cover art because the graphic designer does not affect the contents of the book but fellow booknerds, we know we’re on the same page when we say a prettier cover definitely holds our interest.
